Canadian Experience Class

Canadian Experience Class applications must submit the English/French result when filing. A new stream of Canadian immigration is available to certain temporary foreign workers and international students with Canadian degrees and Canadian work experience, individuals meeting specific criteria will be able to apply for permanent residence from within Canada or outside Canada.

News

As of May 1, 2014, there is an overall cap of 8,000 for new Canadian Experience Class applications.  There are also sub-caps of 200 for each National Occupational Classification B applications. The applicant can not use work experience in the following occupations to qualify for the CEC:

  • Cooks (NOC 6322)
  • Food service supervisors (NOC 6311)
  • Administrative officers (NOC 1221)
  • Administrative assistants (NOC 1241)
  • Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 1311)
  • Retail sales supervisors (NOC 6211)

International Student Stream

To apply under the International Student Stream, the applicants must

  1. who graduated with a Canadian educational credential
  2. have acquired in Canada at least 12 months of full-time work experience under NOC 0, A or B or the equivalent part-time work experience under NOC 0, A or B within 36 months before application;
  3. have obtained the required experience after graduation (CEC Note 1); and
  4. have obtained the English or French language proficiency scores specified according to their occupations;

Temporary Foreign Worker Stream

To apply under the Temporary Foreign Worker Stream, the applicants must

  1. have acquired in Canada at least 12 months of full-time work experience under NOC 0, A or B or the equivalent part-time work experience under NOC 0, A or B within 36 months before application (CEC Note 1); and
  2. have obtained the English or French language proficiency scores specified according to their occupations;

CEC Note 1

Experience requirement:

  • Self-employed or volunteer experience cannot be qualified under CEC;
  • Full-time work is equivalent to 30 hours per week;
